  • U.S. Green Building Council North Carolina Chapter - - The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a coalition of leaders from the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work. USGBC has more than 6,400 member organizations and more than 80 regional chapters. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is the creator of LEED.

  • The NC HealthyBuilt Homes Program - - Provides a certificate for homes meeting "green home guidelines" built by residential builders who practice sustainable, high performance building strategies making the home a comfortable, healthy and affordable place that reduces energy and water usage, promotes renewable energy use and helps protect the land where the home is built.

  • Environmentally Preferable Purchasing--US EPA - - Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP) is a federal-wide program that encourages and assists Executive agencies in the purchasing of environmentally preferable products and services. EPP is about incorporating key environmental factors with traditional price and performance considerations in purchasing decisions.

  • Florida Solar Energy Center (Univ. of Central Florida) - - The Center is the State of Florida's energy research center, and is administered by the University of Central Florida. The Center's Web site provides links to design assistance, listings of continuing education programs, and numerous research reports on building systems and other energy technologies.

  • Lighting Research Center (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) - - The Lighting Research Center (LRC) performs extensive testing of lighting fixtures (such as downlights and exit signs), and also publishes reports that help specifiers understand various lighting technologies. LRC also provides technical support to the U.S. EPA’s Green Lights program and its partner companies.
